There are many reasons why you may need help with your relationship. Here's just a small selection of these:
- One or both of you feels unloved by the other
- Feeling like you are drifting apart
- A general sense of dissatisfaction
- Arguments and conflict
- Affairs
- Lack of trust
- Aggressive or violent behaviour
- Possessive behaviour
- Compulsive behaviours
- One wants to get married/live together/have children, the other one doesn't want to
- Depression
- Unsure of making a commitment in the longer term
- Concern about a large age gap
- Difficulties around coming out
- Effects of bereavement/trauma/illness/disability
- Effects of financial or employment difficulties
- Differences in parenting
- Addictive behaviours
- Issues around fertility
- Family pressures
- It just doesn't feel like it used to
If it is your sexual relationship that is the issue, you might consider psychosexual therapy, but for this you will have to be able to communicate
effectively and honestly with each other, so you may need to work on those skills first.
